Who We Are

Frank J. Richards, PE, CEP

President

Contact

Frank received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Lehigh University in 1968; has been a Registered Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania since 1974 and in the State of Hawaii since 1997; is a Certified Energy Procurement Professional (CEP); and is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the National Society of Professional Engineers (on Board of Directors for Lincoln Chapter), the Association of Energy Engineers, Association of Facility Engineers, The Conestoga Foundrymen’s Association, DOE’s Motor Challenge Program and the Lancaster, PA Chamber of Commerce. Prior to establishing The Richards’ Energy Group in 1995, his industrial experience included 25 years with the Pennsylvania Power & Light Company and 2 years with the Eastman Kodak Company.

For the past 19 years, Frank’s customers have included some of the largest industrial and commercial firms in central-eastern Pennsylvania. His services to these customers have ranged from walk-through energy audits to in-depth process studies of alternative technologies, including analysis of capital, operating and maintenance costs. For the previous 16 years, he developed technical and analytical skills in the areas of electrical distribution, transmission, network analysis, voltage profiling, contingency analysis, 2 to 5 year planning studies and quality control testing and evaluation.

Frank’s “win-win” approach to marketing and service to customers has resulted in national, regional and corporate recognition. He has presented several papers on energy issues at the World Energy Engineering Congress in Atlanta, the Competitive Energy Congress in Boston and West Coast Energy Management Congress in Anaheim sponsored by the Association of Energy Engineers, the Industrial Energy Technology Conference in Houston sponsored by Texas A&M University, and the National Facility Management & Technology conference in Baltimore, MD. Over the past several years, kudos have included a national second-place award from the Edison Electric Institute Marketing Achievement Competition, state-wide first-place and honorable-mention awards from the Pennsylvania Electric Association Industrial and Commercial Competition, and company-wide first-place award from the Pennsylvania Power & Light Marketing Recognition Competition.

Coupling his engineering background with public presentation skills and a keen interest in motivating people, Frank has been able to provide a meaningful extension of his “win-win” philosophy, whether he is educating by teaching courses in Industrial Power Distribution or entertaining by singing folk songs with his guitar.

REG, the Richards Energy Group, was established in Landisville, PA in 1995. REG has been an approved electric supplier in PA since 1999, licensed by the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission.
